Showcasing the best of Psychiatric Audit Projects

Psychiatry is a specialty which can make a significant difference to people's lives. It is a speciality which combines art and science, and has an evidence based ethos to practice.

Audit and quality improvement play an important role in maintaining high quality care to all people who utilise our services. Medical students and junior doctors frequently produce high-quality projects that can help shape services for the better. Sharing this information with colleagues at both local and national levels can help spread good practice.

The National Audit Conference aims to help with this, by giving medical students and trainee doctors the opportunity to showcase their hard work to their peers from across Scotland at a national level. There is no project "too small" to be considered and all with an interest in this area are encouraged to attend and present their work.

NHS Lanarkshire has a culture of encouraging quality improvement, guided by the Scottish Patient Safety Programme as well as established Clinical Quality groups. Medical students and trainee doctors rotating through NHS Lanarkshire are actively encouraged to take part in such projects, and is a great place to learn and work.
